What is PowerPoint PPTX?
A .pptx is a ZIP container with one XML file per slide, plus shared resources for slide masters, themes, animations, and embedded media. Translation has to touch every text frame, speaker note, and chart label across slides — without breaking the slide layout, animation timing, or master-slide inheritance.
Why PowerPoint PPTX is tricky for AI translation
- Text frames are split across multiple paragraphs and runs with independent formatting. Translating run-by-run produces fragmented translations; merging without preserving formatting boundaries breaks the design.
- Speaker notes are stored in separate notes.xml files and are easy to skip.
- Master slides and slide layouts define inherited placeholders. Translating a master changes every slide that uses it.
- Animations and transitions reference text frames by ID. Renaming them breaks animation sequences.
- Embedded charts and SmartArt graphics have their own text trees that need separate handling.
- Text expansion in fixed-size text boxes overflows. Auto-shrink or buffer logic needed for ES, FR, DE targets.
